Bernadette Fallon and Mark Johnson are ALL ABOUT YOUR HOUSE, an established house history research consultancy. A husband-and-wife team, we have twenty-three years' experience of finding out the histories of all sorts of houses, throughout England and Wales. Our different backgrounds - Mark's in science and mathematics, Bernadette's in the arts and social sciences - complement each other, and enable us to take a wide-ranging and unconventional approach to research, which often results in the discovery of fascinating details which would not have been revealed by more conventional methods.
ALL ABOUT YOUR HOUSE has a national reputation for the excellence of its research, and is frequently featured in the national press and magazines, and on television and radio.
Our discoveries include the verification of the birthplace of Dick Whittington in Gloucestershire, the revelation of a Surrey house's involvement in smuggling in the 17th century, the identification of a Cornish ghost, the finding of hidden graffiti in a Cotswold farmhouse that told of its use by mediaeval knights, and the history of two buildings in one of London's oldest squares, which between them housed a Huguenot goldsmith, a leading light of Catholic emancipation, and a nobleman's steward caught up in a scandal which ruined him.
CURRENT AND RECENT PROJECTS include a mansion house in rural Essex built in the 16th.c. as a royal hunting lodge, the home of one of the English Martyrs and, in the 18th c., of the founder of the National Gallery; a Midlands gentleman's residence which conceals the core of a much older house, on the site of which Lady Godiva was held under house arrest in 1067; and a Devon farmhouse next to a Civil War fort.
