How is it done?

The story of your house is, of course, that of the people who have lived in it, who in some sense are part of your life, for they lived within the same walls, climbed the same stairs, and looked out of the same windows. Learning about those elusive figures from the past with whom you have shared your house will greatly enhance your enjoyment of your own life in the house.

There are two options:-
1.
Report. Two researchers spend three days in your local area, searching the available records in local archives. This provides the essential details of the history of the people who have lived in your house as far as reasonably accessible records allow. At the end of this period the researchers visit the house for a brief architectural assessment, to study the house in its context, and to discuss their findings. The results of the research are compiled into an attractive comb-bound report, or are incorporated into Option 2, if this is chosen.

2.
Full History. For houses of exceptional age and interest, one or more further visits to the area are recommended. This enables research of greater breadth and depth to be carried out, and produces a comprehensive chronology of all the people who have ever lived in your house, as far as records allow. The history is fully interpreted and illustrated, to provide a fascinating narrative full of detail about the lives that have been lived in your house. The complete history is presented in a handsome leather binding, in a colour of your choice with toning hand-marbled endpapers, and makes a beautiful family heirloom.
